12. Pastor McPurvis - The Oddio Overplay March

link: http://www.vinylorphanage.com

Composed and performed by Pastor McPurvis mcpurvis at vinylorphanage.com

I wrote the Oddio Overplay March in traditional March form (1st phrase, 2nd phrase, trio, dogfight, trio repeat) as an exercise in reproducing the sound of a full band by using the sounds available from a single instrument, in this case a tuba. All of the sounds of the various 'instruments' heard on the track were created by playing the tuba in traditional and non-traditional ways (i.e. singing through the horn, recording the clicks of the valves, striking the horn with pencils and chopsticks, etc.), filtering and modifying those sounds with various sound editing programs, and using an Akai S2000 sampler and a midi notation program to coordinate the whole mess. For example, the glockenspiel type sound you hear in the trio was created by suspending the tuba mouthpiece by a string, hitting it with a metal spoon, and sampling the result. The March is humbly dedicated to Katya, her wonderful site, and to everyone out there who chooses to share the music. Enjoy!
14. The Bran Flakes - Oddio Overplay

link: http://www.thebranflakes.com

The Bran Flakes are a mishmash of audio fun from Seattle, Washington. Malcolm Quewl and Nick Dunome (from the group Step Mixture) guest on vocals.

"What Is An Ethnic Group?" is an excerpt from the soundtrack to BOOP, a filmstrip Skizz has been working on for awhile, utilizing a lot of found & shared sound. His other hobbies include taking over the world very slowly.

17. Dan Herr - Take This Song

I wrote the lyrics to this song at 4:00 am, July 5th. The vocals were recorded four days after having my lower wisdom teeth removed. Just take it.
18. Ton Rückert - Velvetman

Wanted to do something with this Velvet Underground riff, for no specific reason, really, it took off when I combined it with a midifile (playing on my TB Pinnacle soundcard and heavily edited) from some punk band (a famous one, but still I have forgotten who it was) and then it evolved along the lines of someone in NY not waiting for, but coming from the man filled up with mindenhancing derivatives, which gets sort of nasty, the samples used were pretty much all downloaded from libraries on the net, various instruments, vocals and ambient stuff like ocean surfs, cable cars and ship's horns (the latter actually from New York harbour), additional percussion provided by the TB Pinnacle, the track is basically from 98/99, but I've reviewed it once or twice since.
